What Changes Were Made?

If you don't mind me asking what changes were made specifically to the forums? I could see the interruptions with you guys working on everything but is it anything I should know about?

Made Were What

Thanks for your interest. Basically the changes were mostly in the background with slight cosmetic changes for Users. For instance:

1. When someone accessed the Main Index where all the Boards are shown the database had to be queried several times to find how many posts there, were, who posted last, their ID, the location, and so forth. All that data then had to be compiled and shown to you. A lot of it is not necessary. How many posts we have or the exact time of a Topic doesn't matter, its just 'nice stuff to know', but not necessary.

2. Advance and Simple Search were removed. Those Searches plagued resources. There is the Custom Search bar at the Top and the option to use Google's record of our site which is about a week behind the newest Threads.

3. We took all the big text that were italicized and replaced it with a smaller version.

Those were the major changes for you. In the background we took out a whole bunch of queries for stats and features that we do not care about. This will allow pages to be served faster.

What Changes Were Made? Feedback & FAQ News Community

Loads MUCH much faster now. I do miss being able to click on the topic under the "9 Hours Ago" listing though, the thing I reported as returning the wrong results.

Made Were What

We removed that for two reasons:

1. People use that to get to Boards and miss all the other updated Topics. This way they actually go to the Board to see what is new.

2. Since we took away the extra queries the Main Index may not always update fast enough so if you look at it and see X Topic posted X hours ago it does not mean there aren't newer Topics. A small price to pay since Topics here are updated daily on average so members are advised to check their favorite Board regularly.

Thank you for explaining. I also wanted to say thanks for the new alternating row colors they help read the topics better kind of like other bulletin boards.
