Cerebus the Aardvark

I know animals have been used in the past for Comic entertainment, but we are talking 'Cerebus the Aardvark' here, how can anyone take this seriously. No matter how good the storyline is I can't help but feel as though I am part of tiny toons. Is it just me?

According to Wikipedia.com: "Cerebus the Aardvark (or simply Cerebus) was a monthly independent comic book, written and illustrated by Canadian artist Dave Sim, with backgrounds by fellow Canadian Gerhard for most of the series."
