Clinton may well have but does this make it right? It is widely accepted the majority of the senate doesn't want Bolton to represent the US so shouldn't it be debated. Isn't that the whole point of a democracy?

At the end of the day John Bolton is one of the worst appointments Bush has made and will hurt the US. How you can appoint someone who doesn't believe in an institution to take part in it is beyond me?

Anyway the world will watch Bolton with much interest.

Actually, it is NOT widely accepted that the majority of the senate doesn't want Bolton to represent the US. The fact is that the majority of the Democrats want to block the nomination, so are using a "filibuster" (which isn't really a filibuster) to block discussion or voting on his nomination. They know that he will be approved if he ever comes up for a vote, so they are using every delaying, obstructionist tactic that they can come up with.

The whole point of a democracy is that the majority rules. With the Senate filibuster rules, the minority thwarts the will of the majority.

However, the US isn't a democracy, it is a Republic. And the Democrats don't appear to like the rules very much, so keep trying to change them. This is a way to thwart the obstructionist tactics of the Democrat minority in the Senate.

I am not one for polls but this the latest:

Poll: Fewer Americans Think Bush Is Honest

AP - Less than half of Americans now say they think President Bush is honest, according to an AP-Ipsos poll taken at a time of increasing concerns about Iraq, a potential problem for a president who won re-election declaring that "people know where I stand."
Ref. https://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...h_ap_ipsos_poll

However, what does not make sense is this... if he is so bad why did they vote him in again and move across the border as the report above suggested they would do.

BUSH, GRIEVING MOM SYMBOLIZE DIVISION ON WAR

They were just a few miles away from each other Thursday, standing under a hot midday sun to express their concern about U.S. troops dying in Iraq. But President Bush and the grieved mother outside his ranch were worlds apart on how best to honor the dead.

ROCKY CALLS FOR BUSH PROTEST

Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has angered a few Republicans, and perhaps a few foreign war veterans, by calling for Utahns who oppose President Bush's environmental stands, the Iraq war and other Bush policies to protest when the president visits Utah's capital city next week.

NEWS ANALYSIS: HORRENDOUS WEEK SPURS EFFORTS TO SHIFT SPOTLIGHT

President Bush has been in the White House for 248 weeks, through a terrorist attack, two wars and a bruising re-election. But it seems safe to say that he has never had a worse political week than this one - and it is not over yet.

BEDEVILED BY TURMOIL, BUSH TRIES TO REASSURE

Nine troubled months after taking the oath of office and in the wake of the indictment of a senior administration official, President Bush appears to see little need for a wholesale housecleaning and will try to give his second term a fresh start by naming a new nominee to the Supreme Court and intensifying his drive to cut government spending, White House officials and other Republicans said.
