A Japanese probe has taken photographs of astroid Itokawa. The spacecraft, named Hayabusa, is to stay with the astroid until the end of November. They are hoping to get a sample of the astroid and bring it back to Earth in 2007.

Asteroid Photograph

There are several good pictures on the website of the asteroid. Its exciting to live in an age where pictures of asteroids are becoming common place. This is the second asteroid this year to have pictures released of it.

Photograph Of Asteroid UFO & Writing Art Education Sciences

Cool, too bad they couldn't get a true color photograph of the asteroid. I'd be interested to know what color most of them are, I've always thought of asteroids as black or grey.
