Who the heck came up with that? Christmas was a pagan holiday that evolved away from the jews and is of nordic origin. The celebration is called Saturnalia and is discussed in the thread about the origins of Christmas. The fact of the matter is that it was stolen from the pagans and has nothing to do with the Jews. In fact, christians wouldn't use this pagan day until nearly the seventh and eighth century. Its only been in the last five hundred years that it is widely accepted as a christian celebration of jesus birth.
It may all be a conspiracy for us to go out and buy a lot of unneeded items brought on by the big businesses to give them added income in a otherwise slow period of time. To relate it all to the birth of Jesus was a PR ploy maybe. Now that it has caught on well they are focusing their pr on the other pagan holiday called all hallows eve.
The only thing I can say that may be close to this is that a lot of the rich Jews do have big businesses that will profit during Christmas, not because of anything spiritual but just the marketing of the whole shopping affair. I wonder if a Jewish person would feel any qualms about saying "Santa" for the sake of an extra dollar?
