NEWS ANCHOR APPEARS NUDE

A television news anchor appeared on the air nude in a first-person report
about an artist's photographs, drawing a record number of viewers for the time
slot, the station said.

The report indicates that the station clearly warned people ahead of time, that they followed the rules about time, and that it was done in a tasteful, artistic manner. I don't believe that the FCC should fine the station or the network.

That will definitely score some rate points but I would not change the channel to see some really serious news being presented by i naked person ( it would not be serious anymore)

I hadnt heard about this story until now. I must say even though it seems that it was done in a tasteful manner and with warning, it was still a bold move with the rash of recent issues with nudity on the air. I would say it was not in their best judgement to go through with it.

As a journalist myself, I have to say it was totally unneccesary even if it was done with 'good taste' (hmmm isn't funny? a person is naked on national TV yet they said it was done in good taste *shaking head*). I know the point they were trying to cross but they could have done it with clothes on!.

The really bad part to the story is that I believe she lost her job after this incident. They warned everyone that could be offended properly, so I really do not see the problem with it. It is not like this was going to be the start of a regular "NAKED NEWS SEGMENT" to the broadcast every night. While I say her loss of a job was really bad, you never know. Publicity like this may actually land her jobs later that she may never have gotten. I dont remember who said it, but, any publicity is good publicity.

I didn't read the article because it is no longer available. However, if this was done in the US, the station definately should be fined...in my opinion. The rules are quite clear about such stuff on television. I don't think nudity is allowed, is it? Not to mention, it is wrong to sensationalize the news this way.

I don't think this should be allowed. If I am watching a news cast and I step out for a moment to go to the bathroom or get a snack, I might miss the warning. Then I end up seeing something on the public airwaves, which is regulated against such behavior, that I fiind quite offensive and unacceptable. Not to mention unnecessary.

I remember several years ago there was a lot of publicity about the first ever totally nude woman to appear on prime time television. I don't remember the show but it was one I'd never seen before until that night. I made a point to watch it just out of curiosity, expecting to see a fully nude woman. Well, the girl was completely nude all right but shown from a side view and she covered herself with her arms enough to where you couldn't really see anything. I wonder if this is how the newscaster appeared.
