Just for the love of it? Is there a time when it is justified?

War - Page 5

Wars throughout history have been waged for conquest and plunder.... the working class who fight all the battles, the working class who make the supreme sacrifices, the working class who freely shed their blood and furnish their corpses, have never yet had a voice in either declaring war or making peace. It is the ruling class that invariably does both. They alone declare war and they alone make peace....They are continually talking about their patriotic duty. It is not their but your patriotic duty that they are concerned about. There is a decided difference. Their patriotic duty never takes them to the firing line or chucks them into the trenches. War

I do not agree that old Military stereotype types stand in the military as it is today. A strong person is still needed to grunt along hauling heavy stuff and doing what they are told with out question but not with out thought. I also think more of the leaders have family in the military now thought I highly doubt they are not commissioned officers. So that might mean they are in battle but not on the scrimmage line but back in a nice distance in charge of strategy.

Yes the leader program us to be patriotic in thought but if they are doing a good job and helping you to live in a country that is free and with a good living standard why would you not desire to stand up and fight for it. The average Joe is not of a military back ground and well versed in battle tactic. So where would you place them MR Factual?

Today's Soldier is required to me versed in battle tactics and in technology. After all if you are pruning with a high tech gun and it jams you better be smart enough to unjam it.

War History & Civil Business Politics

The idea of 'war' is so abstract to me, and it's hard for me to completely understand. I can't imagine hurting other beings, but I understand that others find it much easier than me. I also understand the need to protect what you have by any means necessary. Taking a life seems like the ultimate transgression, as I believe that is really all we have in the grand scheme of things.

I guess I'd consider myself a pacifist, but I can also see myself using some kind of tactics to put harm upon others if there is no other way for me to keep my life. It's hard for me to see past myself and a small amount of people. It's difficult to make sense of a whole country going against another country, for example. So many people, there has to be plenty that don't want to be part of a war?

Usually war is just a larger scale version of how you fight with your neighbor or a thief breaking into your home. You deal with the situation as you need to its just some people over do so it escalates.
