Hmm...I've been keeping an eye on the chat, and it does seem like nobody is ever really in there during the scheduled times. I caught Nighthawk in there one night, and we had a lovely conversation. I would love to be able to talk to other members, but nobody seems to want to be in there.
Sometimes I try to open it, but really at this time I am not very good with chatting, I'm much too stressed. I think we need to find a diligent Chat Room Moderator that is sure to be present at the time posted. We cannot keep it open constantly because we want someone in there to ensure the best of standards are kept.
I really am not all that much into chatting, although I am slowly getting better at having my I'm client open in the evening ... sometimes.
Another problem for me is that I really need to be in bed at 9:00PM (Eastern). Life starts early around here (5:00AM). However, I guess I could occasionally open up the chat room earlier, for a while.
The real problem for me is that once I get started, I find it very difficult to end it. Like last night, there I was on the I'm, 45 minutes late. Then I couldn't settle down and sleep afterwards. Too much going on in my mind.
Anyway, I will try to open up the chat room earlier in the evening for a while. But most of you know what I am like. Very little chit-chat. My discussions tend to be wordy and seek some depth. Not that great for the chat room.
I loved our chat! The nice thing about chat is that you can keep it very consistant, and it's in real time. Even if it is a deep conversation, like the three we had going on at one time, it's still neat because you aren't having to wait for someone to write up a post.
You will notice that the 'Who is in the Chat' is gone. We found that this script was causing some problems to users behind a strong firewall for some unknown reason. By removing it we helped them as well as enabled a faster download of the Community. The Chat room is still there, but more or less hidden until you actually click on 'Chat' or the '(?)' to see who is in the room.
It is done! Now all Members can decide whether they want to see 'Who is in the Chat Room' in real time or not. This can be chosen via 'My Controls' and then 'Edit Profile Info' - you will see an option to see the Chat Room or not all the way to the bottom. If you choose 'Yes', then the 'Who's in Chat Room' bar will appear to the top of every page. You can turn it on or off at will, but as a default it is set to 'No' so that no problems are encountered like last time.
