JB...I heart you. I got so excited when I saw that. I'm sure you did too, because that's one less thing you get to hear me "gripe" about. I agree with nighthawk, knowing whether or not somebody is in there does take a role in whether or not I go in there. Or if I do go in there, it's nice to know that I am more likely to end up with somebody to chat with because they can see me.

BabyBlues, I am happy you like it, however, it will still take two things for the Chat Room to become active again:

1. Someone needs to be in there at the designated times and then I will announce it

2. The user has to turn on the facility by Updating their Profile.

3. Maybe we can make this optional on the registration page?

4. I think if we aim for one specific day of the week where someone holds a 'Politics Chat' or a 'Religious Chat' then we can emphasize that day and people will come.

Chat Room Feedback & FAQ News Community

I really like that idea of having a topical chat night. I think it would put emphasis on having the chat there at our disposal, and it also allows people a chance for live debate, closely moderated of course. A schedule could be set up so people know in advance what chat is what night, and would know if they are interested in the topic of coverage. Then each of the moderators could possibly sign up for a topic, and pick a night that would be available for them to moderate it.

1. The exact date and time between 9pm - 11pm EST that you want to hold a specific chat

2. What the chat will be about

3. Your guarantee that you will there at that time to Moderate it.

Chat Ping

I just added some code to notify you when someone is in the chat room via a 'ping' sound. Each time the page loads the script checks the chat room and then pings if someone is in there.

Of course you can turn this feature off via your profile.
