Are There As Many Children Accidents Elsewhere?

It seems that every time I turn on the news or we have prayer requests in my classes, there are new stories about children being killed by accidents in the news all over the state of Florida. In the past couple weeks, there have been close to four or five, if not more, reports about children who have been hit and killed by car and buses. It's so sad to me.

Literally, every time I turn the news on, there's a new story about a child who was walking across the street and was hit. Or the little girl who's bus driver thought she had crossed the street and ran over her.

Do you think the media could help in waking people up? Or do you think that stories even such as these are going to completely roll off of people's minds, and not even make them think twice?

Ambria, I understand your concerns but I am not sure if child deaths are that more prevalent in Florida than in other states. It may seem so to you since you live there, but I can honestly say that I havent heard of that many more child incidents in Florida than other states. With respect to the media, it is important that they let the public know about such incidents and I do believe that their coverage makes a difference. It at least makes others aware so that they can report child negligence or abuse if they see it. For the freak type accidents such as some of those you mentioned, it is difficult to see anyone making a difference there.

I'd say that the likeliness of children getting killed here, are just as great anywhere. More or less. But I believe some of the reasons behind the killings is just plain carelessness. Eventually the world will step up and start strengthening the uncause for stupidity. If not the the world we slowly go under.

Oh I wasn't trying to say that there were more accidents in Florida than anywhere else. I was just seeing if there were as many vehicular accidents with children springing up in the news as often as there are now. There was just this massive surge here of that sort of thing in the media.
