There hasnt been a whole lot of followup to this story, but the assumption would be that the student was lashing out at others who may have made fun of him, etc. He was only a freshman and an A-B student. The troublesome part of this story is not the motive, but the fact that young people like these are taking matters into their own hands and using very dangerous weapons to enact their revenge. What happened to the days when you had a fist fight in the backyard? Not that I condone any kind of violence in schools, but it bothers me that the youth, when they want to take agression out, are turning to guns and knives. It only solidifies the argument for those who believe the media is responsible for the violence in todays society; and they may be right.

Heaing about another instance like this just breaks my heart. Life is tough, but it's just hard to picture being that desperate or that angered to lash out like that.

I think another reason a lot of attention has not been given to this, like we've seen with other school attacks, is because the nation is becoming calloused towards it. They're happening so often that a lot of people are taking the attitude of "Oh look... another one." Which, to me, is pathetic. Violence should not be to the point of people not caring, but now the media does treat it as if it were a movie review.

It seems like it is a very hard thing to be a teenager in a high school in the USA. All these children who have become so violent towards other school mates show a lot of frustration and anger who have been kept within themselves for years. The pressure is very strong and I think parents and teachers should work more towards breaking the thing of popularity that affects so many lives.
