I was a bit concerned with where to place this thread but here I think, is the best place. I would like to share with you a short story that I read and, if you would like, discuss it. I know that not everyone has time to read this but I promise it will be worth your while.
The Veldt*

So, here are my questions...
What is Bradbury emphasising about our children and how we should raise them?
What do you think the line "A cup of tea?" implied about Wendy and her brother and how does that relate with our own relationships with our children?
Just wanted to get some feed back. If this turns out to be a success, I have several more short stories I'd like to share with you.

Oh my goodness. What a disturbing story! I should have taken the time to read this thread a while back! I think Bradbury is making a giant statement about how we raise our kids. We allow the TV to be the baby sitter, and video games their best friends. We teach or kids not to be creative, but to be good watchers. We fail to teach kids to learn on their own, but rather allow them to rot in front of video games as long as they are out of our hair. The children in this story eventually stopped caring for their parents and where extremely self centered. Bradbury was making the point that we are raising children that are rebellious, lazy, and selfish.
If you are reading this thread, do yourself a favor, click on the link and read the story, its both amazing and horrifying!
