The MAIN purpose of Cozyville is fun. The name 'Cozyville' denotes happiness and good feelings, and that is how we hope it will work for you. Now, first things first...

What You Need To PLAY

First, you will need to understand that you must be a Member with at least 30 Constructive Posts under your belt.

Second, you will need to visit the Cozyville Real Estate Directory - the link (located at the top of every page) and enter the Cozy Shop (This is separate to the regular Forum Shop) where you purchase a 'Thread' here. This is like acquiring the goal to being 'living' in Cozyville. Once you purchase your thread it will be opened here for you by one of the Moderators (you will be notified of this). From there you can begin to log any events you wish. More details are given in the following threads.

Logging Events

Basically, you use your thread in the Cozyville RPG Board to say anything you want about life in Cozyville. Consider it a fictitious Blog, but there are events that happen to give you ideas. You can always follow the GM's example (JB) if you like, but it is better to be original especially since he is able to spend his FP a little more loosely than normal.

Time & Dates

Time in Cozyville is the same as it is now (circa 20xx), but it is not real time or in other words it may take just a day to build your house (for the sake of time). Often when you write in your Cozyville thread you will be using the same kind of pattern most use when writing a journal. Therefore you will speak in the first person past tense.

Who Am I?

You can be anything you wish to be, after all you are the GM of your thread, however, keep in mind that you should not call yourself a doctor if you are living in a tent unless you want to make up a reason for that too. In each Thread there are your stats. These stats say what kind of personality you Cozyville Citizen has, for instance, ugly / handsome, rich / poor, single / married, etc.

Whom Do I Meet?

Other community members if you like. Some people like to mix what happens on the forum with actual role-playing in Cozyville. For instance you may have visited the Forum Pet shop and noticed that your pet, Jasper, was unhappy so you played with it using a toy. Then when you go to your Cozyville thread you might enter something like:

Jasper was a bit down today, I notice he becomes mopey when I do not look after him as I should. I decided to take out his favorite toy - a small truck and play with him, he enjoyed that to the fullest and even started to wag his tail.

Okay, So Let Me Begin Already

There are some things that you MUST do first before anything else in order to participate. Everything else is then up to your personal preferences. Note: the Cozyville Real Estate Directory / Cozy Shop are more or less the same thing.

Here are the things you must do, a summary of above if you will:

1. Be a Member with 30 Constructive Posts

2. Go to the Cozyville Real Estate Directory and purchase a 'Thread' (The GM will then enable it for you). The link to the Cozyville Real Estate Directory is at the top of every page in this Board. Make sure you do not use a Pop-up Blocker on this site or you will not be able to access it.

3. When the GM enables your thread you can then start writing, but keep in mind that if all you have is a thread then what you are in fact doing is just 'visiting' Cozyville with the hopes of establishing yourself there one day.

4. Then go to the Cozyville Real Estate Directory / Cozy Shop and buy land.

5. As soon as you can you can you must purchase at least a 'Hut' to live in (available via the Cozy Shop). Huts are normally located on the poorer ends of Cozyville where things are kind of tough. Use the guidelines in the thread called, 'About Cozyville' and be guided.

6. The next thing you do is up to you, but ensure you look up the links for the Contractor, Phone, Utilities, etc. These valuable links gives you info about how to establish yourself in Cozyville. You will be wise to get a job first since you can earn pay that way. As you earn pay you can eventually transfer it to your FP account via the Wire Transfer feature featured in the Phone Directory.

7. Get your Cozyville Citizen educated so you can earn more money, establish a family and have fun!

The Main Purpose

The main purpose of Cozyville is to be as Cozy as possible. The more Cozy you are the more on top you are in your life and among your peers. To become the most Cozy you must keep your stress level down and your happiness up (see Stats that appears in your Cozy Posts). Of course a lot of this depends on some of your choices and purchases in Cozyville. Choose wisely, trying to get cheaper items may enable you to get by for now, but in the long run they might bring you misery.

Goals?

Like any typical person you ultimately want to be well educated, have a good job, marriage and some children to carry on your prosperity. You will need to build this all into your story line as you go along.

Are My Forum Stats Integrated?

Yes. Some of the Stats are calculated based on your Post count, Charisma points (Charm) and so forth. Increasing all of these will also help your 'status' in Cozyville.

Cozyville Control Panel

The Cozyville CP or Cozyville Real Estate Directory gives you the basics about how your character is feeling. It also lets you know why you can't do certain things. For instance, if you want to find a spouse then you must be happy, have a home, etc.

The Cozyville CP should be used as part of your storyline. For instance if your CP says you are depressed then you will need to analyze why that might be and make up your day's story based on this. An example is having very little FP (Cash on Hand) can make you depressed and even though your home and utilities may make you happy it may not be enough to cater for being poor in pocket.

Somethings in Cozyville is purely for cosmetics, but it does help you to get a better picture of 'life' in Cozyville. You will need to decide what you use seriously and what you take for granted.

Life Roll

A key component of the game is the 'Life Roll' feature. Each seven days you are required to make a Life Roll to see what has happened in your character's life. If you do not make the roll then you will not be able to check your pay or use the pop-up Cozyville CP. The reason for this is to give flavor to your game otherwise everyone's character would eventually become 'perfect'. The Life Roll gives you unexpected occurences just as life does

Family Roll

Nothing is perfect in Cozyville and sometimes you may find that Family problems pop-up out of the blue. To see what happens... every three days you will be asked to make a 'Family Roll' and see what family life is all about. You will not be able to do this if you are single or have no children. Like everything else you will have your down days and happy ones - be prepared.

Business Roll

As you become more involved in Cozyville you may want to open a business so you can start collect FP from other players. This happens when a player makes a life roll and ends up randomly purchasing your services.

Cozyville Rules Revised

As of February 2010 the Cozyville Real Estate Rules has been changed:

1. The emphasis of "Cozyville Real Estate Directory" is now the norm rather than "Cozyville Control Panel" or "Cozyville Shop".

2. Cozyville is open to all Members rather than just Upgraded Members.

3. Further changes will be placed in the Cozyville Newspaper.
