Indonesia Architecture
Please describe the general Architecture of buildings in Indonesia? From what concept do Architects in Indonesia base their Designs, building materials, architectural structures, layout, blue prints, plans, shapes, etc.? What is the most visible difference between Architecture in Indonesia and other parts of the world?
I assume this is regarding cultural or historical architecture, I am not an expert on this, but I try to explain it as best as I can, first thing first indonesia are very diverse with multi ethnic and culture including landscape.
So regarding our architecture concept it usually have a mix between buddha/hindu, oriental, arabic, and west due to the historical exposure with such culture, we use stone to make candi or temple (At least the historical finding for now) and wood like mahogany that are more damp resistant to make common stilt house, to prevent animal to easily sneak inside which sometime also work as animal pen and for the shore or near water, it can prevent the house getting flooded. One thing that most visible difference are the unique roof, if we are talking about traditional common house they usually very upright or have some kind of protruding horn roof that goes upward, but there just a lot of unique and diverse architecture to generalize it, for example my place are known to have a very long communal stilt house and floating house (Basically house on raft) and in another place they even have tree house.
