Because of cases like this that are getting more and more frequent (even in our Church) I can't say I fully trust anyone....
It seems that some of the most heinious crimes have a mormon connection. Our critics like to point this out to show what the real result of mormonism is. However, they are isolated incidents for the most part. But also if you think of the Book of Mormon and how those who were nephites who fell away and fought against God became more hardened than the lamanites. Those who sin against the greater light fall deeper into the clutches of Satan than someone without ever having the Gospel.
I don't think it's so much that members of the Church are connected to a disproportionate number of heinous crimes, it's more that when members are involved, they are publicly billed as MORMONS. You never see headlines that say CATHOLIC ASSAULTS CHILD or JEHOVAH'S WITNESS KILLS SISTER. But when it's a member of the Church, those who report are sure to make it clear.
If you take the Church as a whole, over 12 million members, you will probably find a significantly lower rate of violent crime generally. Of course there are members who choose not to control themselves, but their evil is ignorable compared to the good accomplished in the Church generally, and their actions are absolutely contrary to the doctrine and common practice of the Church.

True, but what concerns me the most is that the few cases that we have between our members are cases of EXTREME violence and abuse. |
