Allen H. Neuharth
Allen H. Neuharth, the newspaper visionary and former Gannett chairman who founded USA TODAY, helped create a museum dedicated to news and became one of the industry's most influential figures, died Friday at the age of 89. "Al's passing is a great loss for all of us in the Gannett family," said Gannett CEO Gracia Martore. "Al was many things -- a journalist, a leader, a serial entrepreneur, and a pioneer in advancing opportunities for women and minorities. But above all, he was an innovator with a unique sense of the public taste." Ref. USAToday
