Sometimes one program, no matter how good it is... just can't get the task done. This means you may have to use multiple programs to get something done. For example, I was using one program to scan for spyware and got rid of some, but after using another program and scanning again it found another. Do you find you have this problem often?
The only time I could remember having to use multiple programs to accomplish one task was when I was making copies of home DVD's. I had one program extract the VOB file from the DVD source, another would 'rip' the VOB into a video and audio file, and a third would recombine them at a lower resolution in MPEG format. Then a fourth program, my DVD burning software, would allow me to re-burn the copy of the VCD (Video CD) onto a CD-R. The entire process would take about 15-18 hours in total.
I am guilty, I admit it. I use multiple programs to perform the same tasks over and over. I will list just one example but I have come to realize that no matter what it is that you do on the computer now it is difficult if not impossible to find any one program that can complete a task from one end to the other as it should.
1. Creating DVD's from DVR cassettes. I have a proprietary program for actually sucking it off of the DVR recorder. I use Adobe products to manipulate the video and audio to actually create what I wish to do for effects, animations and then export it. Then I use an encoder/decoder software to actually rip the file apart add the proper codecs and compression for the job at hand. Finally I use another piece of proprietary software to push the file out to a multi-stage burner. It can really get confusing depending on the project at hand.
