The party is relieved to see some water and signs of life, and take a couple of swigs from their water skins to relieve their thirst. They lead the horses to the water and if the horses oblige, then they would feel comfortable enough to refill their skins.
Ice says, "Boy, I am thirsty. *takes a long drink from one of her skins of water* I am going to refill this skin with water for later. Hungry too! Perhaps we should catch some fish while we are here. We can use my extra backpack like a net."
The party agree that catching some fish and using Kron's flint to light a fire and cook it is a good idea because it helps them save their food rations for later. While Kron starts a fire, Ice goes about fishing and Kiana and Mud check the trees for any berries or other fruits that may be useful to bring along as a food source. Maicman states that if enough fish has been caught, then smoking it for later use may be an idea. Instead, Kron decides that Maicman should be the lookout in case someone decides to sneak up on them while they are performing these activities. Maicman draws his sword and stands guard while the others rustle up some food and water.
The furious rain comes as a surprise to the party who were too busy doing other things.
Ice puts on her cloak, opens a ration of food, quickly eats it and then jumps up on the wagon. *grabbing the reigns she says* "come on we need to find a cave or something for shelter."
Kron, Kiana and Maicman all make haste to the wagon and grab their cloaks as well. Mud contemplates changing into his clothes to protect his armor but the rain is already beating upon him, so instead he huddles in a corner and eats a ration of food. Kron grabs a ration of food from his backpack and is thankful for this, his cloak and his boots to protect him from the rain. Kiana with her cloak on grabs a ration of her food as well and eats it, and so does Maicman. Ice snaps the whip and bids the horses to make haste as the party try to make out the silhouette of a cave or some sort of shelter in the blinding rain.
With the ground softening below the wagon from the pouring rain, the only sensible action is to head into the nearby forest and seek shelter and drier ground. Ice veers the horses into that direction.
Ice comes up with a plan to take everyone's cloaks and tie them together for use as a canopy. She then uses her 50' rope to tie the cloak canopy to surrounding trees. With the tarp over the party they unhitch the horses and tie them to surrounding trees and push the wagon under the canopy. They then get into the wagon so they are not standing in the mud. Kiana decides it is a good time now to start a map of where the party has been so far, and updates this while under the shelter of the canopy. The party waits for the rain to subside.
Now that the rain has subsided, the party realize that it would be almost futile to try to attempt continuing in the wagon because of the soft ground, so they decide to send Ice on horseback to scout the nearby lands for food, more appropriate shelter or a cave. She takes her weapons with her and sets off, promising to return before nightfall. The rest start to gather wood for a fire so they can dry off and warm up. They use Kron's flint to start the fire. They also look for any food which may be in the forest here. While the rest of the party start going about this business, Kron draws his shield and long sword and stands watch by the wagon in case of an attack. Mud decides to put his leather armor back on instead of keeping his wet clothes on.
Ice returns to the camp by early evening to tell the others of what she has found while she was gone, including the cloaked skeleton she noticed on her way out. She cozies up by the fire, eats some of a ration of food, and tells the others of her exploits. Kiana, Mud and Maicman are eager to go investigate the skeleton, but Kron and Ice disagree for now, so the party discuss matters, all the while keeping an eye out for danger.
Ice tell the rest of the party:
"Listen, that dead guy tells me there could be danger nearby. I say we all keep our weapons with us on our person at all times from now on. Eat with them, sleep with them, whatever you do, do with your weapons, agreed?"
The party agrees to stay where they currently are and set up camp for the night. They plan to go to sleep at 8pm and take 2 hour shifts staying awake with weapons drawn, in the following order:
Kron 8-10
Maicman 10-12
Mud 12-2
Kiana 2-4
Ice 4-6
Before they go to sleep, Ice feeds the horses each a ration of oats. They leave the canopy of cloaks in tact just in case the rain decides to visit during the night. Until 8pm, the party enjoy each others company around the fire and tell stories of each others past.
In the morning, the plan is to eat a ration of food, disassemble the canopy, rehitch the horses to the wagon, and take off in the direction they had originally planned, in search for caves. They will all stop where Ice saw the skeleton, investigate a bit and move on if nothing of interest is found.
The party is very curious about the skeleton that Ice told them about the day before, and feel they should investigate before they continue on their journey. Since the wagon cannot get to the skeleton, they park it 300feet away, and split into two groups. Kiana, Mud and Ice will go over to where the skeleton is on foot, with their weapons drawn, which Maicman and Kron stay back with the wagon to guard it. They plan to leave the horses hitched in case they need to retreat quickly. If either group needs assistance or get into trouble, they will shout to the other group for assistance and/or run away from danger.
