How Do We Know A Neo Doesn't Really Exist?

Comments: Basically Neo was the ultimate sacrifice, but how do we know we are not part of some machine world now and we are living in a matrix and Neo was our savior?
As much as I like to analyze the Matrix movies it is important to not mix reality with fiction. I do think that man has created a system of control in many areas: politics, religion, and military might, but to say machines are behind it are taking it a bit far. As for Neo... Many religions do speak of one or many others that act as a savior but to say they act like Neo then no, I don't think so.
Good topic and I've often wondered if we aren't all in some kind of matrix. Maybe it is not quite like in the movies but you know... In some way we are being under a system of control while something is telling us that there is something more to all of this.
"How do we know a neo doesn't really exist?"
Quite frankly, we can't. The beauty of the concept of a Matrix is that there is no way to prove it wrong. Of course, there is also very little that can be done to prove it right...
I actually read a paper on a similar topic recently. The author suggested that, as the human mind works through a series of signals, it shouldn't be impossible to recreate those signals to create a simulation(In other words, a "matrix"). Therefore, it's quite possible that, even if we aren't in a matrix, we could still make one way in the future.
Although I agree with JB in that it is bad to mix reality with fiction, the intriguing part of the matrix is that little question in the back of your head that says, "Hey, we never know. It could be true."
So, my answer to your question would have to be "We can't know." Though honestly, I'm not that sure I want it to be true.
The Matrix Trilogy suggests that you can know if you want to know. They use a little bit of Alice in Wonderland to suggest that only those willing to take the risk (maybe pill popping) will see things as they really are "free your mind" has more to it than even the simple this will get you into the Matrix idea.
I definitely agree with what you are saying, JB. What I mean by "We can't know." is that there is now way to know while living our everyday lives. There would have to be a catalyst (such as pills) to force an epiphany where you could say, "Ah, there is a Matrix." I think this would mean an instance where you are actually taken out of the Matrix, which so far seems pretty unlikely (but, hey, you never know. Maybe Trinity will come knocking on your door soon).
For instance, I couldn't go out of my way to prove that we live in a Matrix (Unless you suggest that I start eating pills at random). After all, "freeing your mind" is a lot easier said than done.
This got me thinking... If a person like Neo really exists is one thing but is my own life dependent on this Neo like Zion was? In the last part of Revolutions Neo decided to go after Trinity rather than Zion, it would hurt to be suckered out of life because of some chick.
