Vincenzo Introduction

I have enrolled in this endevor to find our what intellectuals around the world have to say on various topics. Since I am in Japan and far from my home, I think this would be a great way to keep up with current topics around the world. Unfortunately, I am pretty much confined to what the BBC and CNN have to offer as that is the only TV I am able to fully comprehend (learning Japanese slowly).

Now that we have scared you sufficently - The best way to become integrated into our community is to post messages. Remember, you are one user out of hundreds of members. If anyone is going to 'see' you then they need to read your posts. Posts are messages you leave on the various boards we have here. Select 'See All Boards' or 'Site Map' from the top menu, it will load a page full of different boards.

Vincenzo, welcome to the community. You need to change the flag of Japan to your native country as that is what it is for, it is not for your current location, there is another field for that.

So, Vincenzo, what brings you to Japan? I spent a year in Okinawa, a long time ago. For those on the forum who don't know, Okinawa is an island off the coast of Japan in the Ryukyu Island chain and is a possession of Japan. I was in the Marine Corps at the time...1979.

I am not around Okinawa. Actually, I am in a place called Kakegawa. It is located about 2hrs south of Tokyo. Of course, work is the reason that I am in Japan currently. The company I work for makes the glass for laptop and flatscreen monitors (also LCD TV's). We have a plant in the Kakegawa area and I am a engineering manager that is in charge of transferring the technology from the US to other parts of Asia.

It is kind of funny. I came over for a 2 week assignment and have stayed 3 years.

You have become very fast one of my favorite. In fact your "just a though" is getting the best of me. I also want to see japan so I kind of envy you although I now that are moments when you had enough.
