I believe their father was also physically abusive towards the boys. You know, I read ALL these stories and MOST of them have some sort of relation with abuse or broken homes and you start wondering how different it would have been if they had loving, great parents.

However, I found the sentence very lenient.

I do not agree with the state for giving them such easy sentences. They have never given a motive as to why they killed their father. They never said their father was abusive. I think this is a pedophile telling his young victims that it was their dads fault that they are being abused by him. With them killing their father the pedophile thought he would get more pleasure for himself by abusing them more.

The father was irresponsible for letting his boys stay with this guy for so long and so many times without checking him out good. Even so, as a father I do not let anyone watch my children. I do agree that the boys were just brainwashed into doing what they did - I actually think it is obvious. Ricky Chavis would have told them something to the effect of... if your dad ever asks you questions he will punish you and hurt you and you'll never see me again... or whatever nonsense so the boys went home really scared.

You are correct. The father should have checked this guy out a lot better. I think all in all many people will learn from this fathers mistakes.

I wonder if the fact that they have cherubic faces had anything to do with the light sentencing. If they were a minority or not as innocent looking, in my opinion, they would have served more time.
