I am not surprised to see Science Fiction with such a lead in votes. Lately I've been consuming as many science fiction videos and series as I can.
Fantasy and science fiction are definately high up my list of favourite genre. I have found however, that the older I get, the more I find a feel good movie tends to be what makes me… well… feel good.
I find that I am a very happy customer to the Disney Channel, it seems to tick all my boxes. So action and adventure takes my top spot.
Amazon Prime when I don't want to do all 'comfy'.
And if I am feeling nostaligic, then it has to be either a good Jackie Chan movie, or perhaps a throw back 80's movie. Romanacing the Stone and the like.
I don't really have a favorite genre that I go to. I would have to say my favorite franchise to watch is Marvel and Star Wars.
I would have to say my favorite movie genre would be either science fiction or fantasy, it's kind of a tossup and plenty of overlap between the two in my opinion (Star Wars would be a good example of this, and I would argue the Sword of Shannara book series could be an example of genre overlap). I'd say that my next favorite genre would be religious, though it has to be well-made. Examples of this would be things like The Prince of Egypt, the Passion of the Christ, The Chosen, the Ten Commandments, etc.
I voted for horror, simply because I've been on a Horror kick recently. "Hereditary" and "Train to Busan" were what turned me on to my latest horror kick. In a few months, though, I will probably have a different favorite, as I like lots of different genres.
I like a lot of different genres. My favorite movies like "Diary of a Country Priest" (1951) and "Andrei Rublev" (1966) are religious films. There's some stuff from other genres like "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (2009) or "Blade Runner 2049" (2017) that I've also enjoyed. I recently took up using Letterboxd to log the movies I watch. Don't know if anyone else has seen that website and uses it. It's quite fun to see people write reviews (Silly or otherwise) about movies they've seen. It helps me find new movies I might enjoy as well.
