I, Robot

Why do I have a funny feeling this is just another movie trying to steal our moves? Has anyone seen this? Please post a review.

In the year 2035 a techno-phobic cop investigates a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot, which leads to a larger threat to humanity

Will Smith .... Del Spooner
Bridget Moynahan .... Susan Calvin

I haven't seen the movie but it does seem like a rip off of Matrix. I don't care much for Will Smith, look what he did for The Wild, Wild, West. tongue.gif If the movie comes on Pay Per View I may watch it. I haven't really seen too many reviews about it yet. I will reserve my final opinion until I know more.

If you've seen the Animatrix short films, you will realize that I,Robot IS a rip off of the Matrix. The robots even look the same; bald head, etc. Plus Will Smith is not my favorite actor, he just tries to be too funny and this is not a film where we want wise cracks. I wont pay money to see it; not even Pay-per-view. Maybe one of my friends will rent it, and then I'll watch it biggrin.gif

I hat when they rip off the Matrix, it seems every wannabe movie now is based on action moves from the Matrix. Not to mention that I do not understand what they see in Wil? He is no Van Damne or Arnold, he just does not fit the build. Stick with comedy!

I disagree with you. A wise actor will try to explore all areas in the acting field, if they stick too long with one side, for example comedy, it is very hard to change or for a director to give them offers of other kind of roles. It happened to Jimm Carrey, he has said several times he regreted he sticked on comedy when they offered him great roles to do. So Will Smith may not be a great actor, but he is wise enough to choose other kind of roles, not only comedy.
I haven't seen this movie as yet, it seems quiet interesting. I may take a trip to the cinema to watch it. tongue.gif

Offtopics were deleted - lets keep within the rules please!

I understand what you mean LDS, but I am saying that in my opinion I will not be interested in an otherwise good script because of these multi-role actors - especially when I see Will Smith as the Fresh Price of Bel Air(?). Keep in mind too that on a reality level, what acting offers Wil or others actors get should not control my entertainment choice, especially when it is a 'copy'.

I saw this via cheap video today and I have to admit and both retract some of what I said about the film. Yes, I enjoyed it. The moves that copied the Matrix were only what was shown in the adverts, I actually think they moved more like Spiderman more than Neo. Wil did a good job and he must have been doing some serious workouts because he looked way more buff than usual. Of all the things that I liked - the mystery was the best, yes, mystery, the movie has a Sherlock Holmes kind of flavor that keeps you guessing.

Nothing like the Matrix as it was assumed here. I enjoyed the movie a lot, I liked the idea, and the story line. Will Smith did a great job. I recommended it. smile.gif
