It was a wonderful christmas! Thank you!
As for my neighbor, he is a friend, but he just gets cranky and mean sometimes, he is impossible to be around some times. I sit their get yelled at about my lack of 'christian' beliefs and he is an anarchist! What on earth?
As for my kids, I teach them that its a special time of the year for families to spend time together. When they get older, I plan on teaching them the various reasons that people celebrate Christmas. When they get old enough and start asking more questions, I want them to understand, or be able to understand, that they should follow their heart. Growing up christian, I have no ill will or problems if they so chose to follow the faith. I have lots of Bibles and other books answering hard biblical questions from both christian and non-christian perspectives in the house. If they seek for knowledge, they will find it.
But as for Santa Claus...
I don't want to sound rude to those of you who teach your kids about Santa, so let me tread lightly, I did not learn about santa growing up. Santa is not a christian theme and is in essence a lie told to the kids unless Santa really does come down your chimney. I just chose not to tell that lie, its not true, and I don't want them to question other things I say based on a previous falsity.
You know, growing up, I always thought it was hard growing up christian, but in todays world, its hard to be agnostic and not be christian. I get ridiculed more for my lack of belief, everywhere from work to my neighborhood, than I ever did being a christian. I really never saw the response to my beliefs being this way, but then, I don't change because of other people, not growing up, no now.
Congratulations, you have been voted as Moderator of the Month of December 2005 by your peers. 500FP has been deposited into your account.
Wow, can't believe I won mod of the month, I didn't think I had done much, and I still haven't really gotten the hang of it yet with all the extra features. Thank you all, I will deposit my forum points in hopes of raiding the arcade once I have enough saved up!
I just read your blog, and thought I would recommend reading some CS Lewis books. He started out his Christian studies trying to disprove the Bible and all it told, and ended up proving to himself that it was true. I know you were saying you wanted to take the year to find the real Jesus, and that's just one suggestion.
I hope your son is feeling better. Every time one of my girls at work gets sick, I end up being the staff member that sticks with them as their lunch is coming up. There's just something about that feeling of them putting all their trust in you because they know you will take care of them. And these ones aren't even mine!
