COWBOY LINGO LINKED TO SPANISH ROOTS
The Wild West, a period of time that lasted only a few short years before ranchers began fencing ranges more than a century ago, lives on in a new dictionary that traces the Spanish roots of cowboy lingo.

This may not be as apparent to someone living within the USA, but it seems to me that most people outside of the US use Cowboy Lingo as a means to refer to the US' strong will or might. Some use it to also be sarcastic or to emphasize the patriotism of a US Citizen on foreign soil.
