Atari

Before Atari there were little consoles with a ball going left to right on your screen in black and white and it was called ping pong. When Atari hit the market you got a wide variety of games in color! Others started to follow like Activision, etc. However Atari always remained at the top until the power of the PC took over. Nowadays the PlayStation has taken over Atari's role, but the whole purpose of this thread...

Do you remember the Atari gaming console? Which was your favorite cartridge game?

I remember Atari. I had one. I loved it! Had lots of games, but at the moment the only one I can remember is Space Invaders. That was the best game of the day!

Now, my memory comes back! Centipede was another favorite of mine.

Ah yes Atari, I never had an atari, we had Coleco vision which had an adapter to play all atari 2600/2800 games, it was pretty cool. I would have to say my favorite was Gaunlet or Pole position. Its a toss up.

I had an Atari for a very short time. Of course I got it when it was an antique. =P
I liked the Chicken Run game(Don't know if that was the real name).

I had my Atari all the way up til a year after the N64 came out. Awesome, awesome. I would have to say that frogger, and worm wars were my two favorites, then again Pacman was also awesome!

Oh yeah I remember the Atari. I had a 2600 and about 25 games. I loved it but then Nintendo came out and the graphics were so much better, I sold my Atari and all the games for $25.furious3.gif How stupid was that! I wish I had kept my system, I'd make a killing on ebay now. My favorite game was breakout.

I had the consoles offered by "Radio Shack" before Atari was even released. These had the knobs and switches that allowed you to play such classic games as: Pong, Super Pong, Squash, and so forth.

It even came with a gun that used this very new technology called "photons" so you could shoot at the squares, and play shooting and skeet games.

It had a flaw, that you could shoot the balls in the Pong-based games. That was either very hilarious or frustrating depending who used the gun for fun or cheating smile.gif

But I digress. I did get the 2600 later, and while it's tough to choose one game, I'm going with the Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark cartridge. Pitfall came a close second. Anybody remember those?

I also had the 5200 and when I was about to "burn out" from video games forever, along comes NES.....

Still gaming!

OK, I'm only 16, but I remember the Atari well. The only reason for this, is that I own an Atari 2600. This gaming console brings so much joy into my life. And I must say that my favorite game is Moon Patrol.
