Bill Cosby has been arraigned on sexual assault charges in relation to. 2004 allegation.
Cosby did not enter. plea, and bail was set at $1 million.
A preliminary hearing has been set for January 14. Cosby turned over his passport.
The 78-year-old comedian has been dogged by allegations of sexual assault. More than 40 women have come forward to publicly accuse him of assaulting them over four decades, most saying he drugged them first. Ref. CNN
There are dangers within the law of the United States and we are seeing more of them now, than ever before. Legally prosecuting for events that happened several decades ago, seems to be an extreme waste of time and money.
If we hold to the common idea that both parties are responsible, as in responsible for their own actions and choices, then the "Victims" are just as much at fault for putting themselves into the situations where they could receive drugs. Of course the mentality of today's US populace favors on the side of the women filling the complaint, there by taking away ownership for their own actions.
Is there. possibility that these women were dressed in. manner more revealing? What if they were intoxicated and being flirtation with Bill Cosby? What were the circumstances prior to the sexual misconduct?
Who is going to step forward and take ownership for their own mistakes first?
L.A. Prosecutors decline sex charges for Cosby
Bill Cosby will not be charged in cases involving two women who claimed they were drugged and sexually assaulted by the comedian. One 1965 case exceeded the statute of limitations, and in a second, 2008 case, prosecutors found "Little or no evidence." Ref. Source 3i
I don't care how the women were dressed or acted. Their behavior does not give someone the right to drug and rape them.
Should women be cautious about the situations they find themselves in? Certainly. Everyone should be.
Should a person ever engage in sexual behavior without enthusiastic consent? Absolutely not.
So how does Bill Cosby get restitution for the wrongs he perceived or received at the same time allowing for the same restitution to occur for the women injured in the alleged act or acts?
There are so many levels of wrong in this that there can be no RIGHT. Pointing to one party and saying they are right and the other wrong, takes away the onus of responsibility and the growth that comes from learning to own one's mistakes and to correct them were possible.
I believe the court was right to throw these cases out. What a waste of time and money.
Why in the world would Bill Cosby deserve restitution?
He's an /admitted/ serial rapist who drugs women into unconsciousness and rapes them. He hasn't been convicted, but he's admitted the behavior in civil despositions. While I doubt he'll ever face justice for what he's done, the very last thing he needs is defending.
To be clear, Cosby is a /scumbag/. He's a sexual predator who used his wealth and status to prey on the vulnerable.
He may be all those things, but that does not take away the responsibility of the adult women in these cases.
Choices have consequences, even when you give that choice over to someone else to make, you are still responsible for the outcomes. When agency is poorly used, it is still your responsibility to deal with the outcomes. Seeking restitution for allowing someone else to make a decision for you is asinine and completely irresponsible.
