Be A Super Hero Role-playing Game Rules & Explanation

The name came about based on two concepts: 1. You want your character to grow and become a super hero and 2. It would be too common to call it 'Super Hero Role-playing Game '. Plus I did not want this to infringe upon any copyright by including familiar Marvel and DC tones. Thus 'Be A Super Hero Role-playing Game ' is a new custom built and copyrighted concept that was uniquely created for this Community.

Who Can Play

Any Role-playing Game group member can play (You need at least 30 Posts** and an Activity of at least 75%)

** Your 30 Posts should come from the core Boards and NOT: Welcome, Member Wars or Jokes Boards.

Activity level is still a key factor here because it represents how popular your Super Hero is, but it will be up to each GM to decide what level of Activity is required for participation - at the moment JB is keeping this as a non-issue, however it is recommended that you keep it at 75% as it is a global requirement for other role-playing games within the Community.

Where Do I Begin?

Well that depends on if you are a GM or Player.

If you want to be a GM then you need to ensure that you are a Premium member and then proceed to the thread 'How to GM' for further details.

If you are a Player then you can stick to this Thread and other sticky threads to learn what you should do. Continue below.

Note: Game Master's should know the info provided in this Thread very well to avoid confusion during game play.

First Steps

1. You must have RPG status to participate here. To get RPG Status you must post 30 Constructive messages in the Community. The Boards that contain Intellectual Discussion will award you points for your posts. Keep in mind that each thread you post MUST be constructive or it will be deleted and so too can your membership. Do not spam the Forum just to play here.

2. Request RPG status after you have made your 30 posts. You can Post your willingness to become an RPGer in your Introduction Thread (the first Thread you created when you joined).

3. Once RPGer status has been granted to you (you will be notified via your Intro Thread), you should then return here and ensure that you read through the rules to familiarize yourself with how the game is played.

4. You then create a character. There is a link at the top of this Board called, 'Create Character'. Click on it and follow the instructions.

5. Once your character is created then you will want to ensure that you visit the next available Discussion thread to join in on a game.

Threads Within This Board

There are three specific categories of threads within this Board:

1. The sticky threads which only Admin can post to / and / or operate.
2. GM threads which the Member GM tells the scenario
3. Player Discussion where players discuss what they want their character to do.

Now it is important to note, that unlike Medieval or Future Earth, the GM may participate in the Player Discussion thread only as a means to understand what they final decision is for the game. The reason for this is because there is no leaders among the players to post a 'Party / Squad Order' thread. Each player is a Super Hero and must therefore decide for himself what his / her character will do.

JB As GameMaster

The following Rules apply for Be A Super Hero RPG when I am GameMaster. Other Game Master's may or may not have these Rules in their Scenario as well, you will need to find out what applies for them.

Second Steps

1. All Characters start "Poor" so you go to the equipment list and select an item based on your Character's intelligence. More intelligent Characters tend to have more sophisticated goodies at their disposal.

2. I do not require an activity rating at present to participate here but you MUST have an Avatar. This means you will need to have FP - 30FP to Create your Character and then 30FP to get the Avatar.

3. My interest is just good participation, and Players bringing their Characters to life instead of statistics for every little action. In other words, your writing skills are of more value here than wondering what it will take to use your Super Powers against a whale. We will in most cases 'wing' the actions and rolls, after all you are SUPER Heroes. Of course you do something stupid you do die, so watch out.
