AUSTRALIA - President Gordon B. Hinckley addressed about 122,000
Church members in Australia and 14,000 in Papua New Guinea via satellite
Sunday. "Because of the tremendous growth of the Church, it is not possible
to visit individual stakes the way we once did," he said. Elder M. Russell
Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles also spoke at the meeting.
He (Pres. Hinckley) seems to be still up and about despite the passing away of his wife an other health related difficulties. It is also good to see the Church is making good use of technology and I am recognizing this new pattern of holding country to country conferences.
