Did you know that the shortest verse in the Bible comes from John 11:35 which says, "Jesus wept". Consider the implications of the person and the action... what thoughts come to your mind?
If I am not mistaken, this verse comes in relation with the death of a dear friend of Jesus, Lazarus. Jesus used to spend a lot of time with him and his two sisters Mary and Martha. It touches my heart everytime I read that Jesus wept. He really loved Lazarus and his tears are in my opinion, a demonstration of love. By the other hand, he knew beforehand that Lazarus was dead yet he did not cry...I think that when he reached there and saw the suffering of Lazarus's sisters and the family, maybe he felt so much compassion for them that he wept. In any case, I think is wonderful and touching story, mainly because Jesus, the Savior of the world, did indeed express every human feeling as we experienced in our daily lives.
I think this scripture shows Jesus's innate humanity. It shows that he too has emotion and could feel sadness. Despite the fact that he was trying to teach, and that he had suffered and would suffer, what made him weep was someone elses death. He cared more for others than himself.
