I think maybe ask what our best choice would be for the greatest chance of survival. Run or fight? Maybe ask how many of them can ride side by side based on the width of the pass through which they are traveling. This would help us decide if we have a chance or not. If everyone can remind me of their injuries that will help with the planning. |
As I suspected
The question I asked:
What would be the best chance for success for the group, to run or fight?
Answer: Run
There was no doubt in my mind about it that to run is the only chance. Tena, did you buy the other hint?.
I am waiting to here what the answer was to LDS's hint that she purchased before posting. I sent an e-mail to the GM asking him if it was safe to wait. I don't want to lose our opportunity for surprise attack, if that is what some of us need to attempt, in order to survive, just because we are waiting for a hint.
If I am forced to post before we get the answer and an opportunity for further discussion, I have Daphne and Althea continuing to flee, while Kron, Ice and Mud fight on. I am keeping Mud back because he can't flee any more than I can with Joe on his horse.
If we have to stay and fight. I will have us look for things outside the entrance of Death's Mouth behind which we can take cover and then Ice and Mud on one side with Kron on the other. Shooting is succession as riders exit the canyon. So, I would have Ice shoot, then Kron, then Mud, then Kron then Ice, then Kron, then Mud, then Kron, Ice Mud, so that an arrow comes from a different side each time.
There are about 20 of them, so we should have enough arrows if we aim carefully. If we are stationary and hidden we should have a good chance for success.
I chose to have Kron on his own side because he has more arrows and also greater body score and higher hit bonus.

I got an answer from the GM that we are fine waiting. So, we shall see what the hint says. If the answer is ambiguous or it appears we need to stay to fight, I will post as above. If it seems like we need further discussion, then I won't post as indicated above.
LDS and I posted at the same time, so...I will post that the group will keep running, but if the bandits appear to continue to gain on me, I see no choice but to fight.
Yes, I bought the other hint, but if we arent' staying to fight, I see no point in using it yet. I will hold on to it until it is needed.
So, I will post that we will continue to flee as we are doing now. Agreed?

Here is the reply I got for my hint:
Based on your current position everyone should run in a
different direction and meet back at some point so that
only some are sacrificed if necessary.
First, I must say I disagree. It goes against everything I believe to do this. However, I cannot and am not asking others to go against what the GM had recommended. Perhaps I would feel differently, if my horse weren't injured and I didn't believe it likely I would be one of the ones sacrificed. I wish Smudge were around so he could tell what he wants to do because he is another likely target. Since he is not, I guess we will all need to scatter. Where shall we meet up again? We must shout this plan out before we scatter.
Ice will turn her horse sharply to the left when exiting the Mouth and use her war commands to have him make evading manuevers to become less a target. Since he is a war horse, it is hoped he has the strength and stamina to continue until after we regroup. If it becomes apparent that Ice will be overtaken, she will seek a tree or large stone from which to take shelter and will at least fire upon them to try to either delay the inevitable or convince them to go after someone else.
Please post what direction you want you horse to take. Nighthawk, since Smudge isn't around and you are on his horse with him, why don't you say what you think Smudge should do with his direction.
IC: In a fog of pain and weakness, Althea hears only the command to run, and something about scattering. She leans over and shouts in her horse's ear, "Git home!" and gives him an encouraging kick. Althea prays the horse will run for the Village, and that she has the strength to hold on.
