OOC: My intention is to keep running until I get to the Village, where I assume the bandits will stop chasing, because they don't want to risk entering the village.
Nighthawk, since Smudge is out of town, why don't you act as Mud. Tell us what you think he should do. Since whatever he does effects your life, it might as well be you making the decision rather than one of us having to decide for him.
OCC: My intention is to run towards the village as fast as I can but throwing arrows from my horse to see if I can get some of the bandits to fall from their horses and give a chance to the ones that are hurt, to get away.

Now, we know horses are scared of loud noises, snakes and things they cannot see in the ground (since their vision is pretty much straight and if they turn their heads to see they may start moving nervously). Can't we do something to get their horses scared?.
Anything we do to scare their horses is likely to have the same effect on ours.
One thing we can do is shoot at their horses as well as at them. This might slow them down a bit. Edited: funbikerchick on 30th Mar, 2005 - 1:23am
OCC: Since Mud is carrying Joe (what happened to my horse? I lost track!), he can't really fight. He needs to head directly towards the village.
Drop Joe's backpack. The bandits don't know what is in it, so at least some of them will stop to check it out.
Well, the problem is LDS, if you try to do anything you might end up encouraging them to now chase you.
