[camp] The Rescue - Page 33

Mud says "yes, I am for a little bribe to offer those so called hunters. Money always helps in persuasion."

OCC: I do not think is a good idea, we do not know the guys...what about if they just take your money and give you the wrong information? or what about if you put yourself in a difficult situation because they think you are weird about offering money to someone you do not even know? It may bring unwanted attention. But is up to you all wink.gif This just MY opinion.

[Remi walks in the center of the group as planned and makes pleasant conversation, though some of the words he uses may go over the head of some individuals he makes an effort to be friendly to all. He seems to pay Mud especial attention and gives him more than a couple of odd looks sometimes looking pleased with himself and sometimes looking doubtful] What did you say your name was again friend? [he asks of him rather suddenly] I feel that we have not been properly introduced. [he gestures to all those around him] In fact I know only a few of your names, how am I to tell the stories of your exploits to my grand children- once I have them- if I know not even your names? My name as I said earlier is Sir Remi, Who do I have the honor of sharing this adventure with? [he stumbles a little on his flowing cloths and this seems to prevent him from saying anything further while he surveys his companions to find out who may have seen him]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC-The information that I would ask these "hunters" is how far from town they have been hunting and if the distance is significant ask them if they have seen any other groups of people or riders. Ask them if they worry about bandits and what steps they employ to avoid them if any. That is all I can think of.
Just an idea, but they seem curious about you- what if you invite them to take a meal with the party? It would be a much friendlier and cheaper way of finding out information and anything they did have to say would probably be much more detailed.- If they are hunters and some of our members are cooks I bet we could make a good showing and win some friends out here.--Just a thought.
As far as going around Death's Mouth, there is a way if we were to swing out to that passage by Hordeland, but that would take us a long way from our goal, and there is no reason to assume that it would be any less guarded.

Well, the meal is an interesting idea, but do we know if it is anywhere near time to eat? How long have we been on our journey? I agree that they are more likely to open up to us in such an informal situation. Perhaps we should look to the sky to determine if it is close to time to eat and if it is, ask them to join us or ask if we can join them since we are only two and they are more. If it isn't any where time to eat we can just ask the question. I think it might be better not to offer any gold at first. I agree that Unferth's questions are the ones to ask. The offering of gold might be out of place here...perhaps more appropriate in a bar with a bartender, but I will remain open to it, if it appears like the hunters would be more open to answering under such situations.

It is possible we could get false answers just to get our gold, but then the question is, would that really hurt us. Since we don't have any information now, we are just going blindly. If they are honest, it will be a big help.

So, at this point, I am leaning towards asking the questions as layed out by Unferth without offering gold. Any other questions come to mind or does anyone else have any other suggestions or thoughts? I will probably post sometime before noon today. In the neighborhood of 10:00 A.M. Eastern.

OCC:I think you need to put on a strong front. If you let them show weakness they will not give us what we want, and they will just toy with us!

IC:"Don't give them an inch!" Cyroc stares darkly, "Show your self to be strong and fearless, ye must earn the respect of these 'bandits', it will not be given."

OOC: The post says we are only a mile from the village. So I would guess we are not only not ready for lunch, but these are truly just hunters. Since they are eyeing Ice and Sabina and smirking, I'm thinking Sabina would rather eat lunch with a weasel. I think offering them money would just be a waste. They might decide to find out if our warriors have any more, and not in a nice way. So, I think we should just ask the questions Unferth suggested -- how far out have they been hunting in the forest/woods, and have they seen anything unusual at any distance? They've already indicated they haven't really seen anything nearby. Then I think we're done with these guys. Should Ice and Sabina warn the rest of the party about this group of hunters before moving on?

IC: Sabina scowls fiercely at the hunters' whispering and ogling. She sheaths her sword in disgust, shaking her head at men's folly, and prepares to ride on.

OOC: As I suspected, they are not going to take you serious. You should either be done with them or do something to let them know you are not playing around or they aren't going to take you seriously. You are women warriors in a mans world, you must show strength!

That is true, but I don't want to get killed in the process. We have two choices, talk tough or ride back and switch places with Kron and let him do the questioning.

IC: Ice rides up to about 25 feet from the man with whom she has been speaking and says: "I assure you I am a fierce and mighty warrior." *As she draws her bow and arrow and points them at the man she continues to speak* "Were I not in a hurry, I would kill you right now just for the pleasure of watching you die and to see your friends stop laughing. I might still just for the fun of it." *turns to Sabina and says* "what do you think, should we kill this one just for fun?"

Then if Sabina says no let's not waste our time I would then say "We are acting as scouts for a very large army of warriors not more than a mile behind us. Do not trifle or you will soon find yourself in grave danger. We want no trouble, but we can handle it if we must. Do you have any valuable information or not!?"
