OCC: I strongly advise against going into the plains. We need to set up a defendable camp, not be caught out in the open. We need to be stealthy. Camping out in the open does not provide good defensive positions, nor does it provide for hiding.
My suggestion is a very dense thicket. Clear a way into it from one direction only, build a very small campfire (after clearing everything away from it), and put it out as soon as everyone has eaten.
We need to keep well rested. If we double up for watch, then we need to provide for at least 12 hours for sleep, so everyone can be alert the next day.
We can also use one of the clearings we have been told about, and spread dry branches around so that anything approaching is likely to make noise.
However, recognizing that we don't know much about the area, and there seems to be some bad vibes about the place, let's have some discussion about this.
I agree with Joe: we should find a clearing and from that point make our way through a dense part of the forest (about 20 meters, but not in straight line - more like an L) where we could make a camp - about 15-20 meters in diameter. Along that pass we could throw some dry branches and we could make some wood spikes and put them near the entrance, oriented towards the pass. We could sleep in 1,5 hour shifts: 9-10,30; 10,30-12; 12-1,30; 1,30-3; 3-4,30; 4,30-6. We should eat till 9 and since the most difficult shift is the 5th (3-4,30) I volunteer to do it myself. We should all wake up at 6, eat and resume out travel if nothing happens at night. If something happens, we will take action ... the one on watch gives a silent alarm and since everyone sleeps with their weapons ready, we should be ready to fight in no time.
I'm opened to other suggestions.
I have been thinking about this. The GM is giving us all sorts of hints that we are heading into something foolish. Perhaps it would be good for us to head directly west, away from this pass. It might even be worthwile for us to head slightly back towards the village, camp away from it for a couple of days (taking the precautions against ambush), and send one of the new members into the village to gather more information about the region.
I am suggesting this instead of camping. Rather, move for another hour or two out into the plains area to the west, set up a cold, dry camp for the night, then move back towards the village.
This is unless someone else knows more about the general area than I do. Are there any places or areas that previous adventures failed to finish up?
If everyone agrees with Joe's last post than I agree too. If we camp near the village, I volunteer to go and ask around in the village (although my character is not very wise), or accompany someone else to go there. In the mean time,I could get my new stuff (cloak and leather armor).
Please disregard my last post for now, being that the GM gave us something to worry about. I think those lights are the eyes of some creatures. So we have 2 choices: run or explore them and if necessary - fight. Being a warrior, I'd vote for the fight.
I.C. Prepare your weapons friends! I thing someones or somethings are watching us, and I got the feeling they are not quite friendly.
O.O.C. I suggest that 2 of us should slowly separate from the group and go slightly to the side about 10-15 meters, and in case of a fight, attack from that side. If something unexpected happens, just shout it out (anyway they are aware of out presence).
I don't think it would be a good idea at all for anyone to spread out. By doing so, the people at the ends are wide open to attack.
I am going to post that we gather into a circle, facing outwards. It is vital that someone be watching every direction.
We have no fire, so I will assign Mud to build one quickly, using materials at hand. We will be in a loose circle, so there should be plenty of room to build the fire, and to give us all room to swing our weapons.
I HAVE to post what we are doing. I would have liked to have Sabina and one other person prepare their bows, but since I am not getting feedback from anyone, I can't very well post that.
I.C.: It's a good day to die - sad Sidraul, while he steps forward with his sword in his right hand and his dagger in the left - good as any other day. I'm sure I can take care of some of these creatures.
O.O.C. I think Mud should light a torch and then - maybe with someone else's help, try to restrain the horses. The others fight these creatures the best way they can. I think our chances are not that bad 4 warriors to 10 (I think) wolfes.

Sounds good, but I need specific suggestions within the next few hours. The last couple of days, I have had to make up almost everything, and I am not happy with the results. I should have thought of the horses first thing, or, better yet, immediately headed west. Now we are stuck in a fight that we aren't really prepared for.
