[camp] The Rescue - Page 12

Since everyone else thinks it is a good idea to explore, that is what I will post. I am not sure it is a good idea and will share my reasons just so you know what I am thinking and how I see it, not to change anyone's mind.

QUOTE
You are about 10 minutes gallop into Death's Mouth when you see what seems to be a trail leading up the side of the Mountain on your right. Although after looking at it you think it may just be your wanting to find 'something' and some of you figure it is just a natural formation and you should press on.

First, we are told it is up the side of the mountain. We know the mountains go up over 6000 feet. I am not sure a climb up them is a good idea, but that alone isn't my reason for hesitation. It is more that the GM says we think it may only be our desire to find something and then that others of us think it is probably a natural formation and we should press on. So, if that is what we are thinking, why do we decide to go up it. For me, the goal is to allow ourselves the best chance of survival, not necessarily the best chance at a battle...I know, I can be a bit boring. rolleyes.gif

IC *Ice is not so sure this is a good idea, but since the entire journey is dangerous, and everyone else wants to go in that direction, she agrees*

**************
I think the map is only for our own purposes for the return trip, but I did mention the drawing of it.

I specifically mentioned Kron and Joe's weapons, but for the rest of us just said we would have them at the ready for quick use because I don't know which weapon each of us wants. For me, I want the reins of my horse in my hands. If we are fired upon, I think I should then have time to draw my bow. At least, I hope. If we were in a wagon, I would definately have my bow drawn though.

This brings up a good point though. When each of you post, be sure to mention what you want your character to do specifically, not just what you want them to say so if you do want to draw a weapon, or take a drink or whatever, I can post it.

Rescue camp

OOC: Well, so much for exploring the trail... I suppose this will teach us to be more wary when entering unknown territory. Either we've found the folks we're tracking, or this is someone else protecting their turf. Do we ride on as fast as we can, or do we stand and try to fight?

IC:
Althea was so excited to be mapping the mysteries of Death's Mouth, it never occurred to her there would be danger so quickly within it's jaws. She grabs a stirrup to keep her horse from bolting, and pulls herself up off the ground. Using her horse as a shield, she looks quickly about for the source of the attack. Her the pain of her injured shoulder will cause her to be less than accurate and slow, nevertheless she will do her best to fight, if necessary. Pulling the offending arrow from her shoulder will have to wait.

"Who else is down or injured? Call out, friends, that we may know our own numbers! Either we've found those we seek, or we've trespassed another. Do we ride or fight?"

IC: I look around for some cover, edging as quickly as possible away from where the arrows appear to originate. I am trying desperately to stay mounted, because I am not sure if I will be able to stand if I get off the horse. If I can see any cover, I will get into it, and prepare my bow.

I am also trying to see where the arrows are coming from, as well as watching for attackers on foot.

"I'm hurt," I yell to Althea, "but get yourself under cover!"

O.K. I am not out of the game yet, but for the time being I am not your leader so you guys need to make your own decisions regarding what to do for now.

Rescue camp

ICC: Daphne is hurt but not greatly...she is very upset and angry and says "For Zeus! what the heck is going on?", she starts looking everywhere to see the direction of the arrows. She says to rest "We need to pull out from this place now! and look for a shelter...quick...get our herbs and potions and have a chance to heal our wounds before we continue...if we don't, we are dead meat for lions".

You are not immune as more arrows descend quickly after Althea falls

It seems to me that they are up to the mountains since it says that more arrows descend quickly. Where do we look for shelter and what do we do about Ice?.

[camp] The Rescue

OOC: Well, we really got ourselves in a pickle, didn't we? I hope Ice is ok. I don't see how we can stay and fight if we can't see who we're fighting. Can we mount our horses and make a hasty retreat?

OCC: We have no other option. All of us are somehow wounded and we need to heal first before to proceed.

OOC: OK, I think time is of the essence here. Everyone except Mud has posted so far, and the gist of what I am getting is that a retreat is in order. I will have to post in Party Order as second leader. Should I post that those who have fallen, mount in haste and the party make a retreat down the mountain? Maybe we ride after Ice? Either way we need to get away from the line of fire and tend to our wounds. I hope to post in P.O this afternoon.
