PROVO, Utah - President James E. Faust, Second Counselor in the First
Presidency, spoke at a devotional at Brigham Young University Tuesday.
President Faust said the Church exists, in large measure, to strengthen
families, but when the Church is not at the core of family life, family
effectiveness wanes. "So the family is, and must always be, an important
part of the Church," he said. "But the Lord's kingdom ultimately must
be found in our hearts before it can be anywhere else."
When I read this in my email, I was a little confused. The title really confused me, and the content of the "soundbite" didn't help much.
I always thought that we were told to keep the Lord foremost in our hearts. You know, "Have no other God before me." When did this change?
I thought the Church was meant to be a vehicle to bring the teachings and ordinances into our lives, so that we would be better able to worship God, keeping Him foremost in our hearts.
