Don't Move!

If a person near to you saw a black spider or snake on you or close to you then the first thing they might say is "Don't move!". The purpose of this thread is what does "Don't move!" mean to you? Will you not move at all, will you turn to look at the person or will you start flinching? If you find yourself frantic what would you do to remain calm?

Move Dont

If I was told to not move, instinctively I would turn to see why. If I realized that there was a spider on me, I would go absolutely nuts. I have archnophobia to a severe extent. To the extent that my wife has to kill spiders for me.

If it was anything else, and it didn't kill me when I turned to look, I wouldn't have a problem remaining calm. You have to take a couple deep breaths, but ever so slowly as to not startle the animal. Don't move means don't move, but I think most people wouldn't just immediately freeze.

Don't move means don't move, but you know they are going to move. So it's better to say hey look a spider or snake or what ever it is, rather than say don't move. In most cases you tell them to not move and they're going to flinch like a big dog. Flinches frightens what ever it was and will probably scratch or bite the person it was on. I guess in a sense it'd be better to try and corral the vermin rather than say anything.

Move Dont

It depends on who tells me not to move also. If it were someone who I know was never serious, then I would probably laugh and move anyway. However, it was someone who I knew did not joke around a lot, I would probably take the command more seriously. Honestly speaking though, I have no idea how I would react to such a statement.
