Two police detectives led double lives as Mafia hitmen, kidnapping and killing rival gangsters and giving confidential information to the mob for more than a decade, federal prosecutors charged Thursday.

If anything, it is easier for cops to lead this type of double-life than anyone else because of the power they possess. I was not surprised when I read this story and have no doubts that this type of situation has existed, and still exists today. Most 'mobsters' have city officials in their back pockets as protection, etc, and these detectives went above and beyond this by actually working for the said mobster. How many movies have been made about this type of behavior? People should not be surprised by this, and it is only sad that one cannot even trust policemen and those in authority anymore, as they may be more involved in crime than one suspects.
