In honor of Clint Eastwood's recent success at the Academy Awards, the WESTERN movie channel has been airing some of his best movies. I watched this movie the other night, and forgot how much of a classic movie this was. The story revolves around the US Civil War, and the exploits of 3 gunmen in search of a $200,000 treasure. It stars Clint Eastwood (Blondie) as "The Good", Lee Van Cleef (Sentenza) as "The Bad" and Eli Wallach (Tuco) as "The Ugly". The movie, interestingly enough, was shot in Italian with the title, "Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il" and a US version released around the same time. If you watch the movie closely, you will notice the voiceover's from Italian to English. A classic western with a soundtrack that I am sure everyone is familiar with. 3
This was one of several movies that Clint Eastwood made called "spaghetti westerns" because they were all made in Italy and then imported here. Definitely a classic; a sweaty cowboy movie of the finest grade! I haven't seen it in ages, but it's worth a rental on a nothin-else-to-do weekend.
