Millions of refugees are hidden victims of the West's war on terror, warns UN
Refugees fleeing persecution or civil war are becoming the hidden victims of the West's obsession with combating terrorism, the United Nations will warn in a report published today. Only a fraction of the world's 9.2 million refugees have the means to reach the industrialised world to seek asylum. Those who do are increasingly likely to be treated like criminals as rich countries put up the barriers to keep out terrorists and economic migrants.

In reading Malexanders post it seems that he is not aware of the oil reserves found in Afghanistan. Or the pipeline that some corporations want there. Also in consideration that the resurgence of opium production, it seems to be a desirable commodity considering that opium production carried the death penalty under the Taliban but now it doesn't seem to be a big deal to anyone in charge over there. Giving consideration to documented evidence such as the fact that Osama Bin Laden still has not been caught and no real effort seems to be going into finding him, I would have to say that the war on terrorism is one big weapons test, wrapped up in a public relations scam, with no one willing to find out whose bank account the money is winding up in. Iraq, we know from publicly released documentation wanted nothing to do with Bin Laden, and still NO Weapons of Mass Destruction short of garbage, yes GARBAGE, tossed out years before. Iran, don't like Israel but short of that hasn't fought with anyone since it's war with Iraq. And who has any right to force anyone to like someone? North Korea, While the Korean war is actually only in a cease fire, hasn't been doing anything that is not within it's Sovereign right as a nation state. While I'm not a fan of Communism and Stalinism, or a theocracy, I can't see where wars or sanctions do anything but cause suffering to the citizens of such countries. I think that the war on terrorism is just regime change to force capitalism onto countries that are not open to the mega-corporations like Halliburton and the legalised raping of yet another country's resources.
