Humans are prone to get a cold (or flu) at some point in their lifetime. Some actually get the cold three or more times per year. What brand of Cold Medicine works best for you? Consider the following:
* It last long
* It can be bough off the counter
* It is not expensive
* It works fast
* It is drowsy or non-drowsy
* You are able to function well after taking the drug
I hate taking medicine in general. Cold medicine makes me really sleepy but I can still function. I don't get sick allot and tend to stay with stuff like claratin and benedryl because of my blood pressure. Most cold medicines are not acceptable to take with high blood pressure because they will raise it or lower it too low with the medicine you are taking.
I have high blood pressure. When I get sick I just continue to use my allergy medicine. I don't take anything else. Of course, if I have a fever, which is rare, I will take tylenol, but otherwise, I just let the virus run its course.
Head colds are usually the worst for me ( I am presently recovering from one ) and I will take Advil Cold and Sinus for my congestion. It helps me a lot (although temporarily). The Ibuprofen also helps with body aches which can really keep you bed-ridden because it just hurts to move around. Drowsy vs non-drowsy doesn't seem to work for me; that is to say I don't see a difference when taking either one.
