The Middle Passage

The Middle Passage is an imaginary triangle formed based on the route of the traders from the UK to Africa to purchase slaves. From Africa to the Caribbean where the slaves were dropped off to work and then the traders would return to the UK thus making a triangle. There were many horror stories about the way the slaves were packed like sardines for these voyages, but sadly, not mentioned much was the fact that the Chiefs of the same slaves were willing to sell their own people to the British.

Some References for further story can be found via:

'Nowhere in the annals of history has a people experienced such a long and traumatic ordeal as Africans during the Atlantic slave trade. Over the nearly four centuries of the slave - which continued until the end of the Civil War - millions of African men, women, and children were savagely torn from their homeland, herded onto ships, and dispersed all over the so-called New World. Although there is no way to compute exactly how many people perished, it has been estimated that between thirty and sixty million Africans were subjected to this horrendous triangular trade system and that only one third-if that-of those people survived...'

Passage Middle The

A thing like that was made in Portugal. It was formed by the route Portugal-Africa-Brasil.

From Portugal they took mirrors and stuff like that, for the black people of Africa. Then from africa they took some gold and slaves, with those they went to Brasil where they sold slaves or to work on sugar fields or to work on gold minning.
To end the trip they went to Portugal with all the gold they managed to get.

There is a martial art called Capoeira. The slave masters tought they were dancing but in truth they were preparing themselves for a fight or for tring to flee, or something like that. Sometimes I get sad that Portugal was one of the countries to practice more the slavery cry.gif
