Strategic Names
This thread is set up to discuss business names and their effect on you. Also worth mentioning are those names for which you feel were so well thought out that you associate them as a product rather than a brand. An example of this is 'Pampers' which is really a brand and diapers is the product, but most people have now associated 'Pampers' to mean 'diapers'.
Kleenex. That is a brand of tissue, not a tissue name. But I always say I need a Kleenex. I never say I need a tissue. Kleenex marketing was so good that they have most people thinking that you blow your nose with a Kleenex and not a tissue.
This one is not quite as good, but allot of people, especially in the south, refer to all soda pop as Coke. When my wife moved up here, she ordered a Coke and was upset that she got one instead of Pepsi. She also ordered me a diet coke, but I wanted a diet pepsi.
