A very dark movie about a mercenary that dies and comes back from Hell as a soldier of the Devil. He makes this deal to come back to see his wife and son, who we learns is now with his supposed best friend. The special effects in this movie were ok, but the most impressive part of it was Spawn's powers. Actor Michael Jai White did a great job of playing the role of Spawn. Other notable actors were John Leguizamo (Clown) and Nicol Williamson (Cogliostro). For me, Nicol will always be Merlin from 'Excalibur' but it was good to see him in this movie as well. Overall, an ok story, with pretty good graphics. I've been disappointed that a sequel hasn't come out yet. 1 Edited: malexander on 24th Mar, 2005 - 4:30am
I didnt like this movie as much as I thought I would. I am a huge spawn comic book fan and was really excited when the movie came out. They left out some key parts that I thought made the story work, such as he came back white in the movie. He was able to look human, but he didnt even have his own face. But that part of the movie was left completely out. I thought they should have portrayed him as a more tortured soul than he was. He was an ex-mercenary who killed for a living. In his next life he also got to relive his horrible life over and over. But that was left out also. Over all, its good for people who dont read the comic series, but leaves the watcher wishing for more if you are an avid fan.
