If you liked, 'Hero' you will also enjoy this film. it uses a lot of Matrix technology with the flavor of old time Kung-fu movies. The cinematography and backdrops were fantastic and the plot very unusual so it kept you wondering. I enjoyed this Oscar nominee film - the Chinese are doing well for themselves in the acting arena.

House Of Flying Daggers (Hover)
Ok, I bit. I rented both hero and house of flying daggers. The reason you will like it if you like hero is because it is the same movie. Allot of the fight scenes looked the same choreography wise, and allot of the scene set ups looked the same. This movie was good only because it was like Hero. I thought that it lacked originality but that it was entertaining to watch, much like watching hero.
I really liked this movie. Probably about even with Hero.
In many ways I liked the considered use of colors in this movie even more than in Hero. The bright colors generally indicated specific factions in the movie, while the duller colors seemed to indicate less committed factions.
I thought the scenery in this movie was incredible. The scenes in the bamboo forests were particularly beautiful.

I think the Chinese are the undisputed champions of martial arts. Their choreography is streets ahead, where do you think Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li came from?
I have to agree with Nighthawk. I totally enjoyed this movie and felt the settings and use of colour were unbelievable. The bamboo scene was awesome and cinematography second to none.
There is virtually no plot, but who cares, this is another triumph for the Hong Kong movie industry.
