Moderation In All Things?

Do you believe there should be Moderation in all things or are there just some things that should not even be done / used in moderation? Likewise are there some things that should be used / done as constantly as possible?

Things In Moderation

I believe that all things, save hard drugs are good in moderation. Wine for example is good for the digestion. In fact, I believe the Bible even sites an example in which wine can help and should be used sparingly for the help of stomach ailments. Marijuana can be therapeutic for those with glaucoma as long as its used appropriately by the user. All things, in my opinion, are good in moderation. I do have a few exceptions, and cigarettes, even in moderation, are horrible for you.

Moderation In All Things? Beliefs Religious General

I do not believe in moderation in all things. I do not believe all things are good in moderation.

There was a time when doctors thought cigarettes were good for the digestion. Clearly, cigarettes shouldn't be used even in moderation, yet, they do appear to have an effect on digestion.

I think some subtances should be avoided. I think most drugs for anything other than medicinal purposes come under this category. I may be able to drink without becoming an alcoholic, but then again, I may not. If I never drink, it isn't a worry. Wine in Bible days wasn't made the same way it is made today. So, because the bible appears to say wine is good for a particular ailment doesn't necessarily mean it is good for that ailment in the form which we have available to us today.
I may be able to smoke marijuana and never progress to anything more than that, but then again, I may not...

So, when I say "all things in moderation" and it is a quote I use, I don't really mean all things. I mean nothing should be done to excess.
