Not in my opinion.
Mccain already has a high amount of Independent and left leaning Republicans and conservative Democrats that will support him.
There are many conservative individuals as well conservative media types that would support a Mccain/Romney ticket, where before they had some apprehension toward Mccain. Romney also has got the funds to support a long drawn out campaign run.
I think it would be a good choice for the Republicans.

Of recent there is a new letter coming to fruition by Republican Conservatives against Mitt for Vice President. In fact, it seems that Huckabee was hoping for the position, so there is now a 'jealous' war between the Republican 'losers' to see who will be Vice President!

Romney still running, now helping McCain
Two months after bowing out of the race, the former Massachusetts governor has become one of Sen. John McCain's biggest boosters, pledging to raise $15 million for his former rival and making the case for the likely nominee on talk shows and the campaign trail. Romney even traveled to Lancaster, Pa., on Thursday to campaign for McCain, who has wrapped up the nomination and faces no serious threat in the state's April 22 primary. "I think it is important for him to be the president, because I think he would do the critical things that have to be done, and they are reform our entitlement system, rein in government spending, rid our dependence of foreign oil, improve our education system so that our kids really can compete globally," Romney told Fox News last month.

We were handed the most liberal McCain by Democrats voting as republicans, because they thought he would be the easiest to beat in the general election. The news media didn't tell you that. Now I'll tell you something else the "media" isn't telling you. A talk show host suggested that republicans re-register to vote democrat and keep Hillary in the race. It's called "Operation Chaos" and it's working. The democrats are at each others throats in a time when Obama would have been walking away with everything.
I don't think McCain needs Romney, but Reagan, Conservative, Americans, certainly do. He is our only hope in McCains liberal world. We Reagan, Conservative, Americans, sit holding our breath and praying for a miracle. We have no choice but to hold our nose and vote for McCain, but he is certainly not what we wanted.
McCain was given to us by the democrats and now they want to sue, or throw somebody in jail for our doing to them what they did to us. Tooooooooo phunnie!

VP Romney?
One of the leading names tossed around in the GOP 'veep' stakes as the media likes to call it -- is Governor Mitt Romney. Glenn asks him the tough questions that people are asking as they try to figure out how they can enthusiastically throw their support behind John McCain. It's a tough task but Mitt Romney is up to the challenge.

Not Romney? Utah surprised
Utahns were surprised when John McCain chose Alaska's first female governor as his running mate on Friday - especially since many still believed Mitt Romney would be asked to join the ticket.
But Romney, the leader of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and a member of the LDS Church like the majority of Utahns, may have known for about a week that he wouldn't be selected for the No. 2 spot.
