Lawsuit: Teacher Makes Girl Unclog Toilet
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. Apr 8, 2005 - After a girl got sick in the bathroom of her kindergarten class, the teacher made her don rubber gloves and manually remove a clog from the toilet, according to a lawsuit filed by the girl's mother.

Obviously this teacher has some issues and not only needs to be disciplined but let go. Why in the world would you put a kindergarten student through something like this? It's not like she is a teenager and stuffed a roll of toilet paper down the toilet. She is 5 years old and got sick for crying out loud! I don't see that the school has a chance in this case, and unfortunately for them, they will face the brunt of the lawsuit since they hired this person to begin with.

I really hope that this woman is not in the educational system anymore although the article does not mention such a thing then I presume she probably was suspended for a couple of weeks and then placed in another school to continue doing things like that because let me tell you something, a person who behaves that way with a 5 years old means that it is not the first time she has ever done such a thing and it won't be the last time either. I wish they could have said what the punishment was.

The article also says that the little girl has an incurable gastrointestinal condition so she probably gets sick a lot. How sad for her to be treated so harshly! It's something that little girl will never forget in her whole life.
I don't understand why people like that teacher even choose teaching as a career option, when it seems to me that there isn't any compassion for children in their behavior.

Offtopic but, It's also unfortunate that this happened at a Charter School -- these are struggling to develop alternatives to public school and they are fighting against the "establishment" of Unified School Districts. This event will make things harder. |
