Adam's Authority

According to Joseph Smith, Adam stands next to Christ in authority. How would you explain this considering Adam also needed the redemptive power of Christ to save him?

I feel it simple enough to understand that Adam isn't Christ. Adam fell therefor needed to be redeemed. Christ was the only pre-mortal Son of God the Father who had the ability to redeem all of us, Including Adam. What do you think

That's a question I hadn't pondered before...

Although he wasn't perfect, Adam was the first human -- foreordained, called, set apart, to be the earthly Father of all of us. He must have been an amazing spirit, and an amazing man. Was he not the Christ's assistant in the creation of the world?

He chose to give up an eternal life of simple pleasures in the Garden for a limited life on this "lone and dreary" world so that Man might be. Which means he also gave his life for us. What a huge calling! And from the time of their exile from the Garden of Eden, Adam led his family in righteousness. As Brigham Young said once, without Adam, none of us would be here.

In my opinion, of course.

Authority Adams

I found this hard to understand and would like, maybe, some more views of this topic. I was studying Doctrine and Covenants section 29 last night and in my notes it said that Adam stood next to Christ in authority. The most I could get out of it was that Adam was the beginning of mortal men and held the keys of authority to each dispensation, I think thats how I remember it. I would really like some input as I really am enjoying studying this.
