As for US intervention. I believe the US has done the right thing here by voicing their opinion but steering away from intervention.

Arvhic, for some reason, I was surprised when I read this coming from you wink.gif I completely agree my friend, and I am glad to see that you are not all anti-America. No really, I don't think you're completely anti-American, but I do realize you view the US as bullies in most situations. In this particular case, and in many others, I believe the US has almost a right to voice their opinion. I hope the King does what is right for the country and not just for himself.

Malexander, I'm not anti-American. I would love to visit America and have a great deal of respect and affection for Americans.

The US has a very important role in this world, they are the only superpower. I think Nepal is an example of where the US Administration has made a good call and voiced their concern in the proper way. I respect that. I would like to see the US get more involved in some countries that desperately need outside help, Africa has many of them.

Nepal's Maoists History & Civil Business Politics

I am glad to see King Gyanendra make this move, in an effort to restore peace in Nepal. The Prime Minister, however, seems very old and frail. I wonder how long he will last. Hopefully long enough to get a government in place.

Koirala sworn in as Nepal's PM

Nepal's new prime minister on Sunday urged Maoist rebels to sit down for peace talks, as he began the challenge of keeping his political alliance together and steering this troubled Himalayan country toward peace and democracy.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad, 84, opened the session of Parliament with a brief speech, calling on the communist insurgents to join the country's mainstream.

"I urge the Maoists today to give up violence and come forward for peace talks," said the ailing Koirala, who was greeted by legislators with a standing ovation. He spoke for only a few minutes and remained seated during his speech, a break from tradition.

King Gyanendra of Nepal and his son, Crown Prince Paras, have been forced to pay tax - for the first time in the history of the monarchy. Officials at Kathmandu's international airport say the king and the prince were charged customs duties on imported goods this week.
